A nutritious and simple dish made with split moong dal, everyday spices, and served with phulka or rice, perfect for quick lunches or dinners. This recipe is known as 'Chutti mag ni daal' in Gujarati.

What you need

tsp cumin seed
hing

in ginger
green chilli
cup fresh tomatoes

tsp red chilli

tsp turmeric powder

tbsp coriander powder

tsp garam masala

tsp methi

salt

water

lemon juice

cup cilantro leaves
Instructions
1: Heat ghee/oil in a tadka pan. 2: Add cumin seeds, hing and let the seeds splutter. 3: Add ginger juliennes, chilli, tomato puree, spice powders, salt and let it cook until it leaves ghee from the sides. 4: Add moong dal, water and let it cook until the dal softens and there is no water left. (Make sure not to overcook the dal, it should have a bite) 5: Add kasuri methi, cilantro leaves, lemon juice and mix well.View original recipe
