Daliya Khichdi is a healthy Indian comfort food made using yellow lentils and broken wheat, providing a wholesome and satisfying one-pot meal option. Traditionally prepared with rice, this version is healthier as it uses broken wheat, which is higher in fiber and lower in calories. It can be enhanced with vegetables for additional nutrition. Serve hot with yogurt, papad, and pickle on the side.

What you need

tbsp ghee

tsp cumin seed
tsp asafoetida

tsp ginger paste

tsp turmeric powder

tbsp red chilli

tbsp coriander powder

salt

tbsp dried cilantro

tbsp lime juice
Instructions
1: Rinse & soak the broken wheat and split yellow lentils, then set aside. 2: Press the SAUTE button on the instant pot. When it indicates hot, add the ghee/oil. 3: Add cumin seeds and asafetida, allowing them to crackle for 3-4 seconds. 4: Add the ginger-green chili paste and cook for 20-30 seconds. 5: Add the spices, followed by the washed broken wheat and lentils, along with 2 and ½ cups of water and salt. 6: Close the lid of the pot and set the valve to sealing position. 7: Press CANCEL then PRESSURE COOK, setting the timer to 4 minutes on HIGH PRESSURE. 8: Once the timer goes off, allow the pressure to release naturally. 9: Add chopped cilantro and lime juice, mixing well. 10: Serve hot.View original recipe
